What is Dressage?

Levels and Movements Required

Any recognised movements are allowed except for prohibited movements - permitted movements are just examples.

Prohibited movements: Medium and extended trot and canter Counter canter Rein back Lateral work of any sort Simple changes Canter to halt Flying changes Walk pirouettes / half pirouettes Piaffe Passage

INTRODUCTORY

Permitted movements: Circles and half circles of any size Give and retake of the reins

Prohibited movements: Canter Medium and extended trot Rein back Lateral work of any sort Reins in one hand - 10 - Walk pirouettes / half pirouettes Piaffe Passage

Horses with certain titles can no longer compete at certain levels and below.

Local Champion - Preliminary

Regional Champion - Novice

Local State Champion - Elementary

Multi-State Champion - Medium

National Champion – Advanced Medium

International Champion - Prix St Georges

World Champion - Intermediate I

They must only compete at a higher level once the title is reached, so for example a Local Champion can not compete in Introductory or Preliminary classes, only Novice.
